Great Tools for DIY Marketing
Being a business owner means wearing many different hats.
If they were literal hats, you’d need a closet just for them alone.
One of those “hats”, is being a marketer!
Now, we love marketing agencies because they give business owners like myself and yourself the opportunity to work with experts and outsource the work associated with marketing for your business. However, not everyone can afford an agency, or afford an in-house marketing specialist, so we make do and do it ourselves (DIY it).
As a DIY-er myself throughout the years, I’ve found some great tools that help me plan and create content without adding more work to my plate or more expenses to my spreadsheet!
Canva (Free and Pro)
We use Canva for almost all of our content creation needs. Canva offers a free version with a wide range of features, making it quite accessible to small businesses with limited budgets and big ideas.
At Signal Operations, we do use Canva Pro, as the features included fit our needs for content creation but not every business needs “Pro”. There are plenty of templates to choose from for inspiration and to adjust to fit your branding. Especially when starting your business, you can use it to help find your footing when it comes to content styles you’d like to utilise.
Meta Business Suite
It’s 2024. You have Facebook. You have Instagram. You have content you need to put out for both, and manually posting is tedious, so why not schedule your content?
While Meta has its challenges, as a scheduling tool it does what it needs to do. You can use the platform to schedule on Facebook and Instagram at the same time, scheduling photos, videos, and reels. It even allows you to write different captions for each platform while still scheduling simultaneously.
The analytics as well can also help you understand the breakdown between each platform and each placement (whether stories or in-feed posts).
The built-in free tool has plenty of hidden gems when it comes to scheduling content, creating ads, and analytics, so if you’re not already using it in some way, it may be time to check it out!
