Dubsado versus Honeybook

Finding a solid project management software that meets customer relationship management tools that meets task management meets collaboration tool is hard. Been there, done that.

Most of our clients use Dubsado, but it left me wondering - why Dubsado and not Honeybook? And why not just leave your invoicing in your accounting software?

As a bookkeeper and tech-enthusiast, Dubsado is better. It integrates with Xero in a beautiful way, it can track sales tax accurately, and overall allows for better automation and workflows. Client Collaboration is good and projects are easily tracked. It also has email campaigns and custom forms which are both good. Customization is a must if you’re using a tool outside of your normal accounting software. The downside is that you need two accounts (or more) if you’re invoicing in different currencies. You can give bookkeeper/accountant access or full admin to others on your team.

For Honeybook, it doesn’t handle Canadian Business very well and forgets about tracking sales taxes in a meaningful way. Workflows are somewhat limited and while client collaboration is great, it doesn’t integrate with our accounting software of choice, and you can’t have more than one login.

Having a CRM is great, but limiting software options is more important. I’ve used everything from Basecamp to Asana to Trello. Now I use a google sheet for my CRM (and due dates) and google tasks to keep track of what needs done.
