Why Xero is our go-to accounting software, and why you should use it too...

Recently, we made the choice to be a Xero-only firm. Previously, we used both QBO (aka QuickBooks Online) or Xero, combined with Hubdoc. So, what is the reason and logic behind making this change?

First and foremost, we looked at the efficiencies, ease of product, and client use.

Before now, we had to keep up with two different accounting software, reconcile two different solutions, and then also train staff and clients on two platforms. It ended up becoming inefficient to keep using two kinds of competing accounting software.

Efficiencies

Being efficient isn’t just about time in training. We started paying attention to the difference in load times, efficiencies to create reports, finding errors, that kind of thing. The difference was striking! We started falling out of love with QBO and into love with Xero more and more!

Ease of Product

When using Xero, we find that we can keep ourselves better organized and able to compare and contrast reports, and look into potential bookkeeping issues like double expenses or invoices. What we mean by this is in Xero, you can open each of these things easily in new tabs or windows, while in QBO, reports, expenses, and invoices, all overlay what you’re looking at, really over-complicating things for our clients. This became more and more frustrating as we experienced this on client calls. Xero is our hub for everything - it acts as our CRM, all client onboarding happens inside of Xero, and all client work now happens in Xero.

Client Use

Most importantly, we noticed how much our clients love working with XERO, and especially those who made the switch from QBO. Clients have reported that Xero continues to empower them to learn more about their finances because it’s the most user-friendly accounting software they’ve ever used. They’ve also told us that reports are easier to find and navigate, add formulas to, or to zero in on something specific.
